Graduations at Supraja Montessori Study Centre are organised almost entirely by students in the graduating cohort. In the run-up to exams, everyone is busy with their individual studies, but they simultaneously make time to create committees to organise graduation.

This approach, of a student-run graduation, comes from looking at the ceremony not as receiving a diploma or the passing of an exam, but as a celebration of the incredible effort the students have put in throughout the course. Many battle personal challenges and all work against time in pursuit of the understanding of the child. It is fitting that they also have a say in planning the event that marks this extraordinary accomplishment.

The 21st cohort of the 3-6 teacher training course had its graduation ceremony on April 4, 2025. It was an emotional time for us all – saying goodbye and welcoming a new Montessori workforce in Chennai and beyond. What also made this graduation extra special is that students received their diplomas in newly printed Supraja folders!
